THE CHRISTMAS TREE PROJECT

About

‘The Christmas Tree Project’ is a collaboration between Temasek Polytechnic and Sentosa. I teamed up with 3 other members to design and construct a Christmas tree from scratch using unconventional materials. 10 dashing tree designs were displayed along the Sentosa Broadwalk for a month in December 2013. The trees were later adopted by Sentosa's Island partners whereby all proceeds collected went to the Canossaville Children’s Home, a residential and student care for the socially disadvantaged children.

The concept for our tree took inspiration from the traditional deep emeralds of the evergreens and the ruby-red poinsettias of Christmas, the tree reflects the mood of celebration that pervades the holiday season. Seen as the stained glass windows of churches all over the world glow in candlelight to celebrate the season, the tree glows from within, giving the lustre of a jewellery box. The event was later featured in MyPaper and Asia One.
